About The Centre
AoKids Porirua provides early learning for children aged 6 months to 6 years, operating between 7:30am and 5:00pm.
We support tamariki across all stages of their early learning in a safe, structured, and welcoming environment.
Our centre has a strong sense of community, where relationships with tamariki and families are valued, and children are supported to learn, grow, and build confidence.
Foundation
AoKids Porirua was founded by the Wellington SDA Samoan Church to serve families within the community and create a dedicated space for early learning.
It was established as a place where culture, identity, and language could be strengthened, and where the hopes and dreams of Pacific families—shaped by the aspirations of the founding elders and wider community—could be lived out. The vision carried by that generation in the early 2000s continues to guide the purpose of the centre today.
After being closed for a number of years, AoKids has reopened the centre with the intention of restoring this legacy under the AoKids name—continuing its original purpose while providing quality early learning for tamariki today.
