AoKids Māngere is a unique centre with two learning spaces on one site – Malelega and Bula both supporting tamariki at different stages of their early learning journey.
Malelega (40 Cleek Road) is our under 2s space, where our youngest tamariki are cared for in a calm, nurturing environment.

Across both spaces, we create a safe, welcoming environment that reflects the cultures of our community. We focus on strong relationships, supporting each child’s identity, and helping tamariki feel confident to learn, grow, and be themselves.
Foundation
Malelega
Malelega was founded by the Fountain of Knowledge Trust under the leadership of Mama Malelega, one of our founding Mamas and an educator in her own right.
Her passion for children’s learning and ensuring strong connections to culture shaped a space grounded in alofa, care, and relationships—where tamariki are nurtured to feel safe, secure, and connected to who they are.
Bula
Bula was founded by the Fijian Community Trust, with the vision of preserving Fijian language and culture for future generations. We continue to honour and acknowledge its cultural roots and the community who established it.
Now together as AoKids Māngere, we honour the individual histories of both Malelega and Bula, carrying forward their shared legacy. Under AoKids, we continue this work providing high-quality early learning in culturally grounded environments where tamariki feel supported, confident, and proud of who they are.
